Guide

A ticket without the device record is a guess.

“Chromebook won’t turn on” is not a complete job. The technician needs who it is assigned to, whether it was repaired last month, and whether it is still under warranty. That only happens if the ticket sits on the asset.

What goes wrong when they are separate

  • Staff retype serials into the help desk
  • Repeat failures never show up as a pattern on that device
  • Loaners get issued with no link to the original machine
  • Training never sees which issues keep coming back

What linked records change

  • Intake can come by email; the ticket still attaches to the device
  • History by user, device, and location is one search
  • SLAs and ownership still apply—the asset is extra context, not a replacement for a queue
  • Names and emails on the record are for assignment and history, not an SIS

EDUnifi help desk is built to work with asset management. Read K-12 help desk, then staff training when the same tickets keep returning.
